COLUMBIA, S.C. — The rain is finally moving out of South Carolina and sunshine is in the forecast for the next couple of days.
High pressure is helping to usher in drier air behind the cold front that pushed through last night. This will lead to some breezy conditions through our Sunday afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20-25 mph out of the west. While Sunday will be dry, remain cautious of area rivers where waters remain high. There is a flood advisory in place for the Congaree River near downtown Columbia. There is also a river flood warning for the North Fork Edisto River in Orangeburg County.
Temperatures, which started off fairly mild in the low 50s this morning, will climb into the upper 50s to low 60s in the afternoon. This is near the average of 56 degrees for the beginning of January.
Our weather will remain quiet and nice through midweek. A weak front will move through on Tuesday but it will be a dry passing for us in South Carolina. High temperatures will remain in the upper 50s to low 60s through the end of the week. The coldest morning will be Wednesday, when lows drop to near or below freezing.
The next chance for rain comes late Thursday into Friday as another system moves east. Some showers are likely during the day Friday.
Next weekend is forecast to be sunny and nice with continued seasonable weather.
