Mostly cloudy, mild weather Saturday

The weekend will be mostly dry with near normal temperatures. More rainfall is expected by late Sunday and early into the work week.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Skies started off Saturday overcast with some light rainfall and drizzle across the Midlands. By the afternoon some peaks of sunshine are possible with most people drying out through tomorrow.

Despite the cloud cover, temperatures will climb into the low to mid 80s this afternoon with dew points in the low to mid 60s making it a tad humid outside.

Skies will remain partly cloudy this evening for the Gamecocks game, which kicks off at 7:30 at Williams-Brice Stadium. Temperatures will be in the mid 70s around kick off, dropping to near 70 degrees by midnight.

Some patchy fog is possible early Sunday morning, with a mix of sun and clouds likely throughout the day. Morning lows will be in the low to mid 60s.

There is a chance for an isolated shower later in the day Sunday as moisture increases ahead of our next cold front.

Scattered showers and storms are likely Monday and Tuesday as the cold front nears and passes through the Midlands. Temperatures will remain near normal through Tuesday with lows near 70 and highs in the low 80s.

A few lingering showers cannot be ruled out early Wednesday before cooler air moves in.

The second half of the work week will be dry and sunny with below average temperatures.

The eastern two thirds of the country is expected to remain cooler than average for October 1st through the 5th.
