Not so super South Carolina weekend weather

Rain will develop on Sunday in the form of scattered showers. A rumble of thunder is possible, but the threat of storms is small.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Today, a light, southerly breeze will develop, bringing with it a stretch of dry weather and higher temperatures through Saturday. As a frontal boundary stalls close to the area on Sunday, periods of unsettled weather are expected to persist through Monday. Drier weather returns in the middle of next week. Temperatures will be at or a little above normal.

Quiet weather is forecast for today. Temperatures will be above normal this afternoon. Even with the clouds today, highs will be in the middle to upper 60s. A few areas could be a little warmer. No rain is expected today, even though we will have mainly cloudy conditions.

On Saturday, it will be overcast and warm. Highs will be in the lower to middle 70s. The moisture will continue to increase as a front moves towards the region. No rain is expected during the daylight hours of Saturday, but on Saturday night, some rain is possible.

Rain is likely Sunday night and into Monday. Some heavy downpours are possible. The Weather Prediction Center has a large part of South Carolina under a marginal risk of excessive rainfall. Areas that are prone to flooding may have issues with some of the heavier rainfall through Monday.

A few thunderstorms could develop on Monday, but the threat of severe weather is low. High temperatures will be in the middle to upper 60s on Monday.

Quiet weather returns to the area on Tuesday. Temperatures will be close to normal as high pressure builds in.
