Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A cold front will be passing through the Midlands today with showers and thunderstorms likely. Most of the rain will occur during the day. Rainfall amounts will likely be in the range of .50" to 1.50" with an average of about 1 inch. There could be isolated heavier amounts in a few thunderstorms. The impact of the rain will be to hamper recovery efforts, but additional flooding is unlikely. There may be a brief rise on some of the rivers.
It will remain cloudy behind the front and northeasterly winds will bring cooler air to the Midlands. There will be a decrease in clouds on Sunday so that some sunshine is expected by late afternoon. This will allow the temperatures to warm into the low 70s.
A dry start to the week is expected on Monday. There will be plenty of sunshine and it will be a nice day. However, another cold front will pass through the Midlands on Tuesday. Skies will be mostly cloudy with a chance for showers. Only light rain is expected so that rainfall amounts will be low and not of a concern.
Dry weather will return on Wednesday and will persist for the remainder of the workweek. Low temperatures at night will drop into the low 50s with highs in the mid 70s. It will be a nice end to the week.
