COLUMBIA, S.C. — A couple of passing systems will bring rain chances back to South Carolina on Saturday and Tuesday. Rain is likely early Saturday morning. Showers are expected with windy conditions on Tuesday. Severe weather is also possible on Tuesday. Temperatures over the next seven days will be a little below normal for the most part.
It was a cold start to the day. The Columbia airport had an unofficial low temperature of 24 degrees. Camden had a low of 23 degrees. Today will be mainly sunny, dry, and cooler than yesterday. High temperatures will top out in the upper 40s and lower 50s.
Rain will move into South Carolina after midnight. Showers will likely last until about noon on Saturday. Before the rain is done, we could receive 0.5” to 1.0” of rain. The clouds will stick around, with some drizzle possible during the afternoon hours. High temperatures will be wide-ranging. The northern Midlands could be stuck in the middle to middle 40s, while the southern Midlands may reach the 60s.
Sunday will be mainly sunny and breezy, with winds out of the west at 10–15 mph and some stronger gusts. Lows Monday morning will drop into the upper 20s and lower 30s.
On Monday, the clouds will increase ahead of the next system that will bring rain to the state. High temperatures will be in the middle 50s on Monday.
Showers are likely Tuesday, with some heavy downpours. Some flooding is possible on Tuesday. It will be a windy day too, with winds out of the south at 25–30 mph, along with some stronger gusts. The Storm Prediction Center has parts of South Carolina at risk for severe weather on Tuesday.
The best chance for severe weather is along and south of I-20, but this will have to be monitored over the next several days.
