Severe storms overnight leaves people in the dark

Severe weather swept through the Midlands and left damage and power outages.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Severe weather overnight has left people in Columbia with damage and without power as they woke up Saturday morning. And more severe weather could be on the way.

Strong storms began moving into the area around 3 a.m., touching off multiple severe thunderstorm warnings. That brought high winds that knocked down trees and power.

Richland: 13,736 customers 

Lexington: 4,749 customers

Severe weather is still possible Saturday into Sunday throughout the Midlands. The National Weather Service warns against strong winds.
