COLUMBIA, S.C. — Before getting into this week's Skywatch Forecast, let's start things off with some of the viewer pictures we saw this past week. We saw a couple of great photos of the full moon!
Once again we have some really great night sky viewing opportunities set up across the Midlands. We will have some weather systems moving through though so it will be important to know which days to avoid.
Looking at the Skywatch Forecast, we should see some clearing on Thursday and Friday nights, but don't expect totally clear conditions. Overall, things should be okay for viewing and with warmer weather it might be worth it. Our next nights with good conditions will be coming next week with clear conditions returning by Monday and Tuesday night.
With all of this being said, what can we see in the night sky this week?
If you are looking for constellations, it is the perfect time of the year to view Leo. "The Lion" rises in the eastern sky right after sunset and follows the path of the sun through the night sky so it is extremely easy to see this time of the year.
If you want to view something in the morning still, the recommendation remains the same. Venus and Mars in the southeastern sky will be very easy to find as they get higher and higher above the horizon each day.
