The warm weather continues through Saturday

A few showers are possible late Saturday afternoon through early Sunday morning. Any rain that does fall appears to be isolated and light.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — This weekend brings a change in the weather pattern as a cold front will move into the state Saturday. Today will be unseasonably warm with temperatures in the lower 80s. Saturday will likely be even warmer before the cooler air spills into South Carolina on Sunday.

This afternoon, with high pressure in place, it will be sunny and dry. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s today. Our average high temperature is 74 degrees. Our average low temperature is 49 degrees.

Tonight will be clear and a little milder than this morning. Low temperatures Saturday morning will generally be in the middle to lower 50s as the moisture increases slightly.

Saturday’s high temperatures will be very warm, reaching the middle 80s. The record high on Saturday at the Columbia airport is 87 degrees. This record was set in 1974 and reached again in 2014. We could be looking at record highs on Saturday, but things will cool off Sunday.

The clouds will stick around Sunday. High temperatures for the second half of the weekend will be in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.

Monday will be mainly sunny with highs in the lower 70s, but gradually, our temperatures will heat back up. On Wednesday and Halloween, we are expecting high temperatures in the lower 80s.
