Two rescued, uninjured after tree falls through roof of mobile home

Saluda Fire officials said this was one of multiple calls related to weather and its impacts over the Christmas weekend.

SALUDA, S.C. — Two people escaped unharmed over the weekend when a tree came crashing through their home in Saluda on Friday.

Fire crews across South Carolina have had their hands full over the last few days due to the impacts of sub-zero temperatures and the damage left by the winds that brought them in.

For Saluda crews, the call came in around 7 a.m. as winds first started causing issues in the region - and are suspected of being a factor in this incident.

Saluda firefighters were soon sent to a call of a tree falling into a mobile home, a "structural collapse" and two people trapped. In this case, Saluda firefighters were able to free the two trapped in the home in under 10 minutes using "forcible entry tools." Fortunately, there were no signs of injury.

Photos shared by the department on Monday from the scene on Denny Circle show where the tree fell directly through what was previously the doorway and the roof above it.
