COLUMBIA, S.C. — After a few days of cloudy, gloomy, and rainy weather we finally have some sunshine back in the forecast! We also have some very big changes that we are tracking in the forecast.

Lows were running around 10-15 degrees cooler than this time yesterday. Sunshine will help us warm up in the afternoon though with highs approaching the lower to middle 70s. Looking at any evening plans, we do cool down pretty quickly into the 60s so it will be on the cooler side if you have any outdoor plans including and Friday night football games or if you are heading to the state fair.

Looking at the weekend, high pressure builds into the southeast and continues to move east. This will direct our winds out of the south and southeast which will allow our daytime highs to be rather warm; in the lower 80s on both Saturday and Sunday. Expect a lot of sunshine on both days.

As we go into the next work week we have some really big changes in the forecast. As of right now we are tracking a cold front that will usher in the coldest air we have seen in the Midlands since the April. Timing of this cold front looks to be on Monday and will bring some increased cloud cover but things should remain dry. Temperatures will plummet behind this front with upper to middle 30s expected on Wednesday morning. Patchy frost will be possible. Daytime highs will be on the cooler side only reaching the lower 60s.
