COLUMBIA, S.C. — Dry weather and warmer temperatures are expected over the next two days. Our next storm system is forecast to impact the Southeast late in the week and bring increased chances of rain on Friday and Saturday. Dry weather returns to the Midlands on Sunday.
Tuesday was sunny, breezy, and cooler than usual. High temperatures were only in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Our average high temperature this time of the year is 69 degrees.
We will be warmer today with lots of blue skies and sunshine. High temperatures will be in the lower 70s for most of the area. Some parts of the Midlands could reach the mid-70s.
There are a number of scheduled prescribed burns for today. This may cause smoke in a few areas this afternoon and reduce visibility in parts of the state.
Skies will be mostly clear tonight, with lows in the middle to upper 40s. Thursday will be mostly sunny and warm, with high temperatures rebounding into the lower 70s.
A slow-moving system will be coming to South Carolina by the end of the workweek and into the weekend.
Rain returns to the state on Friday, especially Friday afternoon and Friday night. Rain will likely begin Friday afternoon. The showers will continue Friday night into Saturday. The rain should end by Saturday night. High temperatures Friday and Saturday will be in the middle 60s,
Dry weather returns to the area Sunday through Tuesday. Temperatures will be at or just a little below normal.
Pollen levels will remain high today and Thursday. The pollen counts will improve Friday as rain is expected.
