A man was brought to an area hospital, where he died. Now, deputies want to know who shot him.

Investigators believe the shooting happened near Graniteville but are asking the community for help uncovering more information in the case.

GRANITEVILLE, S.C. — Deputies are searching for answers after a person showed up at a hospital and later died.

According to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to Wellstar MCG Health in Augusta where a man had been brought to the emergency room with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim, identified by the Aiken County Coroner's Office as 23-year-old Richard Carroll of Aiken, was later pronounced dead.

Now, investigators believe the shooting location was in the area of Sage Creek Boulevard and Bettis Academy Road in Graniteville, but additional details are still limited.

The sheriff's office asks the community for help as deputies investigate the incident alongside the Aiken County Coroner's Office. The Richmond County Sheriff's Office and Augusta University Police Department are also assisting.
