Arrest made in Sunday's Farrow Road fatal shooting

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia Police have made an arrest in connection to a shooting at a Farrow Road gas station early Sunday morning that left a 46-year-old man dead.

Joseph Kennedy, 35, was arrested Sunday night and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. 

Police said Kennedy and Jevon Belton, 46, got into an argument at the E-Z Spot convenience store in the 3200 block of Farrow Road around 12:35 a.m. Sunday. Investigators reviewed surveillance video and followed some solid leads  to determine that Kennedy shot Belton during the argument.

Belton was taken to a local hospital after the shooting where he later died from his injuries.

Kennedy is being housed at Alvin S Glenn Detention Center.
