'Armed and dangerous' suspect wanted in weekend shooting arrested, Batesburg-Leesville police say

18-year-old Da’Jae Wigfall, who was considered 'armed and dangerous,' was wanted in connection with a weekend shooting in Batesburg-Leesville.

BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. — An 18-year-old who was wanted in connection with a weekend shooting in Batesburg-Leesville has been arrested, according to police. He had been considered 'armed and dangerous' by police.  

Police say Da’Jae Wigfall was arrested in connection with the shooting that occurred on May 10, 2024.

On Friday, May 10, 2024, officers with the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department responded to the Exxon located at 102 South Pine Street for the report of a shooting. Responding officers located an adult male in an adjacent parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Lexington Medical Center for the non-life-threatening injury.

Wigfall was arrested after he turned himself in to Batesburg-Leesville investigators at the Police Department on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at approximately 6:00 p.m. 

Warrants charging him with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime were subsequently served on Wigfall.

A bond hearing was conducted at the Batesburg-Leesville Judicial Complex on May 15, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. Wigfall received a $100,000 surety bond and was transferred to the Lexington County Detention Center.
