Columbia Police investigate deadly shooting at apartment complex on Columbiana Drive

Richland County Coroner identifies the victim who died at the scene.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia Police are investigating a shooting that left a person dead.

A spokesperson for the police department said officers responded to a shooting at 401 Columbiana Dr., Harbison Garden Apartments, just before 7 p.m. Sunday, March 17. Officers said the shooting victim died at the scene.

Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford has identified the victim as Nigel McFarland, 24, of Columbia.

Investigators are canvassing the area for surveillance footage that may provide clues to what happened. Police ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or visit CrimeSC.com.
