RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities say multiple people have reportedly been shot in a Richland County neighborhood off of Decker Boulevard.
According to the Richland County Sheriff's Department, the shooting happened around 7 p.m. in the 100 block of Angel Garden Way. Deputies haven't said how many people were shot or detailed the extent of their injuries. Investigators believe this is an isolated incident based on information that is available at the moment.
Shortly before 8 P.M. News19 reporters saw Naida Rutherford, the Richland County Coroner, arrive on scene but she did not provide any information on the case.
We also spoke with a resident who lives on Angel Garden Way. He says he heard multiple rounds being fired.
"Rapid gunfire, like machine gun fire or something, and then a couple single shots, and next thing we know, police was here," he adds, "We never have problems in the neighborhood. A couple rowdy kids running through every now and then, but other than that, the neighborhood is really, really quiet."
The sheriff's department said the scene was still active as of about 7:30 p.m. Investigators are urging anyone with information to contact the sheriff's department or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or CrimeSC.com.
