Four arrested in July double homicide in Eastover

The shooting, which happened on July 9 on Hickory Ridge Drive, left 22-year-old Dominic Goodwin and 22-year-old Xavier Hopkins dead.

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — A total of four suspects have been arrested in a double homicide in Eastover back in July, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

The shooting, which happened on July 9, 2024, in the 300 hundred block of Hickory Ridge Drive, left 22-year-old Dominic Goodwin and 22-year-old Xavier Hopkins dead. 

Richland County Sheriff’s deputies found the victims in a car outside a home on Hickory Ridge Drive. A third person was also shot and found inside a nearby home; that victim was hospitalized and survived.

A 16-year-old wanted in connection with the shooting was the first to be arrested in metro Atlanta after a standoff, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced at a news conference on July 19, 2024.

A second suspect, 17-year-old Nycoreian James, was arrested on July 26, 2024, and is charged as an adult, according to deputies.

A third suspect, a 16-year-old, was arrested July 31, 2024, according to deputies.

A fourth suspect, another 16 year-old, was arrested August 5, 2024.

All four suspects are charged with two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a firearm under 18.

Deputies say the shooting stemmed from an unsolved murder in Columbia that happened several years ago. 

Investigators say they are not searching for any outstanding suspects in connection with the shooting at this time.
