COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia Police say a woman shot at a fast food restaurant has died as the search continues for her killer.
Police said the woman, identified as 40-year-old Antoinette Michelle Hammonds-Colon of Columbia, was shot on Thursday morning at the Bojangles at 151 Harbison Boulevard. Officers arrived to find her outside the restaurant. She was taken to an area hospital and, at the time, was in critical condition.
On Friday afternoon, police confirmed she had died, and charges against her alleged killer had been upgraded. Police are treating the incident as an isolated incident that stemmed from an ongoing dispute between two groups. They said numerous shots were fired, and they believe multiple people were involved.
The shooting temporarily closed the 100 block of busy Harbison Boulevard as police and deputies from Richland and Lexington counties worked at the scene. Police are reviewing video from cameras in the area and speaking with witnesses.
