KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — A pursuit in Kershaw County involving a stolen car ended in three arrests with help from a sheriff's office K-9 on Thursday afternoon.
The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office said the chase began around 4:40 p.m. when a reportedly stolen Dodge Charger was spotted on Hwy. 601 in Lugoff. The sheriff's office said the driver didn't stop when deputies turned on their blue lights, leading deputies southbound on Hwy. 601.
The sheriff's office said the suspects tried to hide the car behind a home and escape. However, an off-duty Elgin police officer spotted them, and, with the help of K-9 Kilo, officials said that three people had been apprehended within about five minutes.
Authorities said two of the suspects were adults, and a third was 17 years old. The driver also had a handgun in his pocket when deputies found him, the sheriff's office said.
