Man faces attempted murder charge after allegedly opening fire during dispute with resident outside Richland County home

A resident said a child at the home saw the man out the window around 2 a.m. on Sunday.

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — A man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder for allegedly firing a gun after being confronted while standing outside a child's window on Sunday morning.

A report filed by the Richland County Sheriff's Department said deputies were called to the area of Davies Drive and Claudia Drive, where around 2 a.m., witnesses reported hearing multiple shots fired. One person said her child saw a man, identified as 41-year-old Jason Tarrell Boyles, outside the window. The report states the child's mother went outside to confront Boyles, who then opened fire.

Deputies said they didn't find any damage to the home or shell casings in the yard; however, based on how the incident allegedly unfolded, investigators believe the shots would have been fired toward the home.

K-9 officers went to the area and attempted to track down Boyles but didn't find him. However, he was arrested on Wednesday on charges of first-degree harassment, second-degree domestic violence, entry on another's land after notice, and stalking. A surety bond was set for these charges. A charge of attempted murder was filed on Friday, and a bond hearing is set for Friday afternoon.
