Police hope community tips could help solve a fatal Manning shooting

Manning Police Department found 20-year-old Christopher Forehand dead of a gunshot wound Wednesday night.

MANNING, S.C. — Manning Police Department is asking the public for any information on a shooting Wednesday night that left 20-year-old Christopher Forehand dead.

Officers responded to 7 Branch Street in Manning around 6, where they found Forehand unresponsive, according to the police department. He was later pronounced dead at the scene by the Clarendon County Coroner.

Police are working on the investigation with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Clarendon County Sheriff's Department, but they're asking anyone with more information to come forward.

Manning police, community efforts to solve shooting

"The public are key to solving any crimes," said Manning Police Department's Lieutenant Sean Briley. "There could be someone with a ring camera that we don’t know about or a camera system on their residence that could have caught something."

He said details are limited right now as they're still trying to piece together what happened, but he confirmed to News 19 today that there were other individuals at the home when police arrived. He also confirmed that police surrounded a different home where he said they believed someone from the house where the victim was found dead was at that location. It turned out that person was not at that home, but the police were able to talk to them later.

Neighbor Andrew Gunnells said that the ordeal took hours.

“There was fire trucks, there was ambulances, there was more police about four houses down," said Gunnels. “For about, I’d say maybe three hours they were out there, microphones, everything like that. They were trying to get whoever it was inside to come outside. I’m not really sure what happened but we’re all shocked and crazed that it’s happened," said Gunnels.
