SC State student charged with shooting at another student on campus, officials say

Police said Ifill fired a shot toward the victim as the victim fled from Hodge Hall.

ORANGEBURG, S.C. — A South Carolina State University (SCSU) student is now charged with shooting at another student on campus on Tuesday.

Officials say 19-year-old Rolando J. Ifill Jr., of Charleston, is charged with assault and attempted murder in relation to the shooting that occurred in an academic building on Tuesday.

According to university officials, Ifill and the victim, both SC State students, were involved in a physical fight on Tuesday morning on the second floor of Hodge Hall when Ifill pointed a 9mm handgun in the victim’s direction.

Police said Ifill fired a shot toward the victim as the victim fled. The shot shattered the glass above an exit door to the corridor between Hodge and Davis Halls.
