Richland County deputies search for suspects in Clemson Road drive-by shooting

Authorities urge anyone who was in the area around the time of the shooting to come forward with any information they have.

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities now believe an incident that left a man wounded on Clemson Road Thursday was a drive-by shooting.

The Richland County Sheriff's Department said deputies responded to the 2700 block of Clemson Road in reference to a shooting victim around 4:30 p.m. Deputies found the man with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.

News19 crews found a law enforcement police presence outside National Tire and Battery as deputies investigated the scene. On Friday, the department said deputies now believe one or more suspects opened fire from inside their vehicle before leaving the scene.

The sheriff's department asks anyone who was in the area around the time of the shooting to come forward with any information they have. Tipsters can submit information to Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or CrimeSC.com.

The department said it will release more details as they become available.
