Shooting under investigation in northeast Richland County

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — The Richland County Sheriff's Department is investigating a shooting that happened on Sunday afternoon in the northeastern portion of the county.

The sheriff's department said deputies responded to the 500 block of Summit Terrace Court because of a shooting that occurred around 4:30 p.m. While details of the incident are still under investigation, investigators confirm one person was shot and taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The sheriff's department advised drivers in the area that parking lots at the entrance to Summit Terrace Court are blocked as deputies keep the scene secure. Authorities said this should not disrupt normal traffic patterns.
