COLUMBIA, S.C. — On Friday, the Richland County Coroner's Office identified the victims in a Thursday night shooting on Angel Garden Way off of Decker Boulevard.
They were 16-year-old Jayden Scales-Amiker and 36-year-old Marvin D. Archie. Officials have not identified the 14-year-old who had a gunshot wound to his leg.
Some community members said they have lingering questions after the deadly shooting in their neighborhood. One of them, who asked to remain anonymous, said he didn't hear gunshots but saw the emergency vehicles.
"We came outside and saw all of the police cars and the ambulance and even the fire trucks," he said.
He added that he never experienced anything like this.
"Me being a veteran, you know, honestly, I didn't deal with this much violence in the military, and I'm having to deal with it as a civilian is really crazy," he said.
According to the Richland County Sheriff's Department, on Thursday around 7 p.m., deputies responded to a shooting on Angel Garden Way. The incident report said that when deputies arrived, a man approached them and said he was hurt but not shot.
The report states that deputies were waved down by a woman several houses down, where they found a 35-year-old man and 16-year-old boy unresponsive and pronounced dead. A 14-year-old was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound in the leg. News19 contacted the Richland County Sheriff's Department regarding his condition but did not hear back.
The community member said that even with the sheriff's department stating they believe it was an isolated incident, he's now rethinking his and his family's safety in the community.
"I have grandchildren that I'm concerned about, you know?" he said. "The children like to come out and play, and I'm afraid to let them come out."
The sheriff's department has not released information about a suspect or whether investigators have any leads.
