COLUMBIA, S.C. — Two South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) employees have been arrested for incidents involving juveniles.
On Friday, the agency confirmed the arrests of 39-year-old Jessica Norton of Lexington and 39-year-old Ayotunde Roane of Columbia for misconduct in office. The agency said they were involved in improper contact with youth but didn't elaborate further on what led to the charges.
The state DJJ said both employees were suspended during the investigation and resigned as it was underway. The agency added that it strives to "hold all employees accountable for actions that violate internal policies, oath of office, or the law."
