Coroner identifies 8-year-old, 16-year-old killed in Orangeburg ATV crash

The collision was one of three deadly crashes in Orangeburg County over the weekend.

ORANGEBURG, S.C. — The Orangeburg County Coroner's Office has identified the two children killed in an ATV crash in Orangeburg County.

The office said the victims are 8-year-old Ania Chalk and 16-year-old Jada Fludd, who both are from Orangeburg.

According to Master Trooper Gary Miller with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 4:20 p.m. on Saturday along U.S. 601 near Scenic Drive about five miles north of Orangeburg.

Miller said the crash occurred when a 2020 Kawasaki ATV attempted to cross the road and was struck by a northbound 2024 Freightliner truck pulling a trailer. The two children on the ATV were killed in the crash. The driver, who was the truck's sole occupant, was not injured.

That was one of three deadly crashes in Orangeburg County on Saturday. In total, five people were killed in the collisions.
