One dead after shooting in southeast Columbia on July 4th

The incident is the second fatal shooting in Columbia on July 4th.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A man is dead after a shooting in southeast Columbia on Thursday evening, according to Columbia Police.

Police say the shooting happened around 8 p.m. Thursday at Garners Crossing Apartments on Garners Ferry Road. Authorities say one person is being detained but is not under arrest.

The incident is the second fatal shooting in Columbia on July 4th.
