COLUMBIA, S.C. — An accident has shut down part of Interstate 20 eastbound in Kershaw County according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The accident is about three miles west of Camden near mile marker 94. This is near mile marker 94, that would be in between the rest area and the Wateree River bridge.
State troopers said two tractor trailers were headed eastbound on I-20 when one slowed down for traffic. The vehicle was then struck by the tractor trailer traveling behind it.
The driver of the first truck was transported to a local hospital while the driver of the second tractor trailer died at the scene.
Master Trooper M.R. Ridgeway said that he expects the road to be closed for a few hours. A detour has been set up that will take vehicles off the highway at the 92 mile marker exit and take them to Highway 601 and then Highway 521 before getting back to I-20.
This is a developing story. Check back for more updates.
