I-20 shut down in Kershaw County after fatal accident between tractor trailers

An accident has shut down the eastbound lanes of I-20 between the rest area and the Wateree River Bridge.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — An accident has shut down part of Interstate 20 eastbound in Kershaw County according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The accident is about three miles west of Camden near mile marker 94. This is near mile marker 94, that would be in between the rest area and the Wateree River bridge.

State troopers said two tractor trailers were headed eastbound on I-20 when one slowed down for traffic. The vehicle was then struck by the tractor trailer traveling behind it.

The driver of the first truck was transported to a local hospital while the driver of the second tractor trailer died at the scene.

This is a developing story. Check back for more updates.
