COLUMBIA, S.C. — Richland County deputies say they've found the remains of a missing man who was last seen alive last Thanksgiving.
Officers said the remains of 27-year-old Morgan Duncan were recovered Monday morning. According to deputies, a person walking in the woods in the 7400 block of Springbank Drive found the remains around 8:45 a.m.
Detectives were able to quickly determine that the remains were human and began processing the scene. The Richland County Coroner's Office came to the are and matched dental records to confirm that the remains were of Duncan.
“At least we are able to give the family the remains so they can have a proper burial," said Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott in a statement. “Telling a mom their child has been killed is one of the hardest things I have to do as sheriff, but being able to find their loved ones give them a little bit of peace.”
Duncan was reported missing on November 28, 2023--Thanksgiving--in the 200 block of Springtree Drive in Columbia. Duncan was listed as a vulnerable adult in need of prescribed medication.
Two people have already been arrested and charged with murder in the case: Eric Greene, 41, and Julivia Walker, 28.
The sheriff's department is still investigating and has not yet said how they think Duncan may have died or the circumstances leading to his death. Anyone with information about the case should Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
