Motorcyclist dead after accident in Columbia on Tuesday night

The accident remains under investigation by Columbia Police and the Richland County Coroner's Office.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A Columbia motorcyclist is is dead after an accident in Columbia on Wednesday night.

51-year-old Ramey Reddie Jr. of Columbia, died on the scene of the accident according to the Richland County Coroner's Office.

Police say Reddie was was traveling eastbound on Ft. Jackson Boulevard when the motorcycle collided with a GMC, which was traveling westbound. 

Police say the GMC driver signaled to turn left on Wildcat Road. After reviewing video, police say the motorcycle driver tried to avoid impact & laid down the motorcycle before sliding several feet on the roadway toward impact with the passenger’s side of the GMC.

The accident remains under investigation by Columbia Police and the Richland County Coroner's Office.
