KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — The Kershaw County community is grieving the sudden loss of 25-year-old Dalton Jordan, who died in what authorities are calling a hunting accident on Saturday afternoon.
Jordan, known for his caring nature and love of the outdoors, was remembered by family and friends as a devoted family man with a passion for hunting and carpentry.
Jordan’s uncle, Todd Jordan, provided images of Dalton and spoke to News19 about his nephew over the phone, describing him as a man deeply dedicated to his family, especially his wife, young daughter, and his soon-to-arrive son.
Todd shared that Dalton cherished spending time outdoors and was happiest when surrounded by family.
According to Kershaw County Coroner David West, authorities were alerted around 3 p.m. Saturday about a missing hunter. Later, family members found Dalton on Flat Rock Road, where he was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound.
The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources confirmed that the accident was isolated and involved only one person. As the investigation continues, they extended their condolences to Jordan’s family.
Others close to Jordan shared that he had a "heart of gold" and was part of a “Godly family,” though they wished to remain unnamed.
An autopsy was conducted Monday at Newberry Medical Center. The results have not yet been released.
