COLUMBIA, S.C. — A Columbia man took out his small catering business supplies and headed out to the street to feed those in need on Christmas Eve.
On the corner of Air Base Rd. and Lower Richland Blvd., David Woodard whipped up Christmas meals for anyone in need.
“I try and do something every year, at least something for the kids or something," Woodard shares. "Getting out of prison three years ago, having nothing, you know its good to give back when you can. So, I’m just trying to give back so everybody can have a great time.”
Family, friends, neighbors, anyone who needs a warm meal came out to visit with Woodard.
“Well, my uncle David, he’s out here cooking food … a lot of good food," Woodard's 10-year-old niece Trinity Jay told Street Squad. "He can cook good.”
“We got some chopped BBQ, green beans, baked beans, macaroni and cheese sausage with the onion and fried fish," Woodard showed us.
“It makes me feel good that he’s doing this for the people who want and need and the people who want to come out here and have a fun time," Trinity said.
Woodard says if he has enough leftover to be back giving out food on Sunday.
