ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities are releasing new details regarding human remains found near Holly Hill a week earlier.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office announced on Jan. 4 that deputies had discovered the remains and were investigating but had no additional information at the time. On Friday, Coroner Samuetta Marshall said roughly 95% to 97% of those remains had been recovered.
Marshall said that her office, alongside a forensic anthropologist, is gathering details about the remains, which were found in an area of 30 to 40 feet in a wooded area off Fourwind Road. She said they are still working to determine the age, gender, and identification of the deceased.
