Crash in Orangeburg County leaves one dead, two hurt

A spokesperson for the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash is still under investigation.

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — One person is dead, and two were hurt following a two-vehicle crash in Orangeburg County on Saturday morning.

According to Lance Corporal Brittany Glover with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 3:45 a.m. on U.S. 21 (Freedom Road) near Mays Chapel Road between Rowesville and Branchville.

Glover said a 2007 Honda Accord was heading north on U.S. 21 when it was involved in a collision with a 2018 GMC Terrain that was heading south.

Officials said the driver of the Honda died at the scene, and both occupants of the GMC were taken to the hospital. The Orangeburg County Coroner's Office hasn't yet released the name of the deceased victim.

Glover said the South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
