Two additional suspects apprehended in Sumter teen's death

One suspect turned himself in on Friday, police said.

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — Sumter Police have arrested two additional suspects, one of whom is in custody, in the July shooting death of 15-year-old Derrick “CD” Wilson.

Wilson’s body was found July 25, in the area of Hoyt and Nelson streets in Sumter, a day after his family reported him missing. He had been shot.

Murder warrants were recently issued for Sumter residents 20-year-old Cedric T. Wright and 21-year-old Keonte K. Jackson based on information gathered during the ongoing investigation.

On Friday, police said that Wright turned himself in. Jackson was placed in custody without incident Wednesday and is being held in the local detention center.

Two other suspects were placed in custody early in the investigation and remain in the Sumter County jail.

Seventeen-year-old Jaylen Hammett of Manning was found on July 25 at a home in Clarendon County and placed in custody. He is charged with accessory before the fact of murder.

Twenty-year-old Ja’Hugh L’Goeshay Brukale Martin of Manning turned himself in on July 29 and is charged with murder.
