CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. — Clarendon District Two announced Monday it will go completely virtual starting September 7 to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.
This week, the district is preparing students for this transition. Teachers will do virtual instruction from their classrooms.
Students will still be expected to be on time and actively participate. They will have to attend all of their classes and actively participate. Students will be required to attend all of their classes to be marked present for the day.
Some Clarendon Two students agree the switch to virtual learning is necessary.
One Manning High School student said, “How y’all gonna put us quarantine, and then send us back to school, and then gonna try to put us back on virtual? So, that’s why I feel like it’s better ... because just cause we’re staying at home, like, we’re not like going places and stuff while we’re in quarantine.”
Another student said, “It don’t make no sense, I don’t know why they opened school up anyways cause if they’re doing this again they might as well just keep it closed.”
Clarendon Two said it will give more information about the closures next week. They will also be sending out more information to parents over the next few days.
