SUMTER, S.C. — A second suspect wanted in connection to the killing of a Sumter teenager has been arrested.
Sumter Police said that 20-year-old Ja'Hugh Martin turned himself over to authorities Monday afternoon at police headquarters. He has since been taken to the Sumter County Detention Center. Officers had previously said he would be charged with murder.
He's one of two suspects who police said are responsible for the death of 15-year-old Derrick "CD" Wilson of Sumter.
Back on July 23, police said Wilson was at relative's home in Sumter when he got into a car with two other people. Sumter officers eventually found Wilson's body two days later near the corner of Hoyt and Nelson Streets in the city. Investigators said he'd been shot to death.
The date when Wilson's remains were found was one day before what would have been his 16th birthday.
Another suspect, 17-year-old Jaylen Hammett, arrested last week at a home in Clarendon County and charged with accessory before the fact of murder. The sheriff's office said he is being held without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
