Police say the suspect's cousin was accidentally shot while attempting to intervene in an argument.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A woman has been arrested after Columbia Police said she accidentally shot and killed her cousin last weekend.

Columbia Police say they have charged 39-year-old Tamara L. Anderson with involuntary manslaughter in connection with last weekend’s fatal shooting on King Street.

At approximately midnight on Saturday, August 17, 2024, Anderson is accused of engaging in an argument with an acquaintance in the 1200 block of King Street. During the altercation, police said Anderson pulled out a gun.

While attempting to intervene, the victim and Anderson’s cousin, who’s been identified by the Richland County Coroner as Eugene Bell Junior, was accidentally shot. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Since the arrest, police say Anderson has been released from the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on a $100,000 personal recognizance bond.
