Former SC State star playing in second consecutive Super Bowl

Javon Hargrave was on the field a year ago when Kansas City defeated the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. The SC State grad has continued his pursuit of a Super Bowl win.

LAS VEGAS — Donnie Shell, Harry Carson and Charlie Brown are three former South Carolina State standouts who have hoisted the Lombardi Trophy.

Former two-time MEAC Defensive Player of the Year Javon Hargrave hopes he will be the latest product of Dawson-Bulldog Stadium to win a Super Bowl.

Hargrave was with the Eagles last year when they lost a hard-fought contest to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII. This year, Hargrave is now with the Niners, and once again, he will face Mahomes and company in Super Bowl LVIII.

Former S.C. State head football coach Buddy Pough coached Hargrave and says the Salisbury, North Carolina native might be the best defensive player he has ever coached in terms of the way he was so disruptive up front.
