COLUMBIA, S.C. — There's a soundtrack that plays in Jermaine Singletary's head every time he thinks about the amazing Gamecock National Championship Women's Basketball season.
It's a song he knows well because he wrote it. This is the third song Singletary has on his resume. He and Johnny Glenn also wrote the song "Gamecock Fan." Both songs have a very different vibe, but they're both written to get you out of your seat and on your feet to celebrate.
The song "Gamecock Fan" celebrates what it means to be a Gamecock fan, whether the teams are winning or losing. It features background vocals by Glenn's six-year-old granddaughter, Imani.
The song "Gamecock Love" was written by Singletary and has an upbeat rhythm for those looking for a hype song! Singletary says he's given the songs to Coach Dawn Staley, but he's not sure she's heard it. He says he knows Staley has been busy and hopes she will be able to listen to it soon.
Singletary considers himself a lifelong Gamecock fan and understands the importance of music in unifying a community. He says sports bring everyone together.
