Columbia man killed in Tuesday night crash identified

The driver was taken to an area hospital with what authorities said were not life-threatening injuries.

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities have released the name of a 32-year-old man who died on Tuesday night following a crash near Pelion.

According to a statement from Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, the crash happened around 10:30 p.m. in the 5800 block of Fish Hatchery Road. Fisher said a truck was heading south on the road when it went off the left side and overturned. Authorities said Antonia Deshawn White of Columbia was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene of the crash. White was listed as a passenger in the vehicle.

The driver was taken to an area hospital with what authorities said were not life-threatening injuries.

Both the coroner's office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol  Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are investigating the crash.
