Motorcyclist dies in Orangeburg County crash on US 301; SCHP investigating

Authorities haven't yet released the identity of the victim.

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities say a motorcyclist has died following a Saturday night crash in Orangeburg County.

Lance Corporal Nick Pye with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 10 p.m. on U.S. Highway 301 near Short Avenue. 

Pye said the 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle was heading south on U.S. 301 when it ran off the road to the left and hit a fence. The driver sustained injuries in the crash and died. The Orangeburg County Coroner's Office hasn't yet released the victim's name.

Pye said the crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
