LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — Platt Springs Road has reopened in Lexington County after a brush fire temporarily led to detours.
Drivers in the Red Bank area of Lexington County were detoured as emergency crews responded to a five-acre brush fire on Thursday afternoon.
Traffic on Platt Springs Road was being diverted to McLee Road and Clermont Lakes Drive. Lexington School District One announced through text message that the brush fire and emergency response could impact traffic for students at Carolina Springs Elementary, Carolina Springs Middle, and White Knoll High schools.
Authorities announced around 3:35 p.m. that Platt Springs Road had reopened and the fire had been brought under control. The county thanked the community for its cooperation. Officials haven't yet released a possible cause for the fire.
