ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — Several people are in the hospital, and one person has died following a Sunday afternoon crash that led to multiple patients being evacuated by helicopter.

Lance Corporal Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 2:40 p.m. on U.S. Hwy. 301 (Five Chop Road) near U.S. Hwy. 176 (Old State Road), roughly six miles from Santee.
