All-Tiger showdown is set for Monday night

Clemson and LSU will square off Monday night for the national championship.

NEW ORLEANS — Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney and LSU's Ed Orgeron have had plenty of time to speak about their national championship showdown.

From the CFB Playoff news conference in Atlanta with all four semi-final head coaches to the various sessions at their respective playoff games in Phoenix and Atlanta to the obligations in New Orleans, there has been plenty of content previewing Monday's game.

But Sunday provided the coaches another high-profile event in the annual joint news conference featuring the photo op with the national championship trophy.

Swinney was asked to describe the last decade of Clemson football and he didn't hesitate.

"Transformative. Is that a word," Swinney asked rhetorically.

"We've transformed Clemson. The next decade is the roaring 20's. So, I'm excited. I heard those were great. Hopefully we can relive those."

No doubt the Tigers are hoping to kick off 2020 with a loud roar from the stage at the New Orleans Superdome.

The Tigers from the ACC are looking to win their third national championship in the last four years. Standing in the way are the SEC-based Tigers who have been impressive in the post-season in winning the SEC Championship and the Chick-fil-A Bowl in dominating fashion.

Pinckney Update

Swinney said defensive lineman Nyles Pinckney is still battling an ankle injury. Swinney said if the redshirt junior plays against LSU, he would be limited.
