LEXINGTON, S.C. — A Lexington County faith-based non-profit is providing snacks to kids over the summer and asking the community to help it keep its food pantry stocked.
Mission Lexington said it gave out 200 snack packs in the first week of June as part of its Summer Snack Pack Program. But its goal this summer is 2,000. Organizers said the snack packs include macaroni and cheese, fruit cups, granola bars, crackers and juice pouches.
“We are committed to supporting our community, especially our young ones, during this critical time,” Executive Director Robin Bowers said in a statement provided to News19. “The Summer Snack Pack Program is one way we can help bridge the gap and ensure that children have access to nutritious food when school is not in session.”
However, the organization said it needs donations from the community and local businesses to keep items in its food pantry. Items can be dropped off at 216 Harmon Street in Lexington, Tuesday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. More information is available at www.missionlexingtonsc.org.
