RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — A 14-year-old has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder after a teen and an adult were shot and killed in northeast Richland County, according to the Richland County deputies.
The teen is charged with the murder of 16-year-old Jayden Scales-Amiker and 35-year-old Marvin D. Archie on April 11 in the 100 block of Angel Garden Way. He'd been in the hospital since the shooting and was released Monday.
Deputies say the shooting was the result of a confrontation that occurred because of a robbery that happened the night before.
Deputies say four juveniles robbed another juvenile of his personal items around 7 pm on April 10, 2024 in the 2300 block of Decker Blvd, near the Food Lion. The following day, deputies say the father of the robbery victim and several others were engaged in an altercation.
It’s believed the 14-year-old, armed with a pistol that had been illegally modified with a switch so that it was fully automatic, shot and Archie and Scales-Amiker. The 14-year-old suspect also sustained a gunshot wound to the lower body and was transported from the scene to a local hospital.
Three juveniles are charged in connection to the robbery on April 10. A 14-year old and two 16-year-olds are charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession of a handgun under 18, and kidnapping. The fourth suspect is the deceased 16-year-old.
