SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — One person is in custody in connection to a fatal shooting on Memorial Day in Sumter, and two others are wanted by police.
19-year-old Curtis Jefferson of Mayesville is in custody and charged with murder and attempted murder in connection to a fatal shooting of a man and injury to a woman.
Fernando Quintez Adams, 20, of Sumter, is wanted on murder and attempted murder charges in connection to the shooting. Police are also looking for a juvenile involved in the shooting that killed the driver and injured the passenger.
According to the report, officers responded to a "shots fired" call at around 7:30 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Green Swamp Road and South Guignard Drive and found a crashed car.
The driver, Tavares Keiwaun McFadden, 32, of Blanche Road, was struck by gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene. His 28-year-old passenger, who also suffered a gunshot wound, was taken to the local hospital for treatment and is now recovering at home say police.
Police say that McFadden's car was stopped at the traffic light on Green Swamp road when a white sedan drove up and shot into the car before it sped away on South Guignard Drive.
A reward of $5K is being offered for information that leads to additional arrests.
