Armed suspect sought after attempted assault at Cayce's Guignard Park

Authorities said officers are still heavily patrolling the area and have asked the public to assist with any information they have.

CAYCE, S.C. — Cayce Police are investigating an attempted assault that happened early Friday morning as they search for the person responsible.

A police spokesperson said Cayce officers responded to Guignard Park on Knox Abbott Drive around 7:15 a.m. There, police said a male suspect in all black clothing and armed with a gun attempted to assault a female. Police said the suspect left the scene.

Police brought out a K-9 and attempted to track the suspect. Authorities said officers are still heavily patrolling the area and have asked the public to assist with any information they have. A city spokesperson said this is a rare case but asked residents in the area to be alert.

The department urged the public to report information to Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or call the police at 803-794-0456. Any doorbell camera or security video is also welcome.
